Deep Breathwork - Advanced
Overview
Until relatively recently a niche “out there” thing, breathwork has quickly gained popularity over the last decade, and for a good reason. Known to indigenous cultures for thousands of years and mentioned in the records from ancient cultures from all around the world, it is now beginning to be better understood by modern science and slowly seeping into the mainstream.
We practice a variation of conscious connected breathing, mixed with the elements of Embodied Processing and informed by the latest neuroscience.
We are guided by the following key principles:
Safety. We meet people where they are at, gently guiding them out of their comfort zones and supporting them through the process, but not pushing them beyond their limits. We focus on integration and safety resourcing, take utmost care to avoid re-traumatising people and provide guidance and support between the sessions when required. We are committed to holding a safe and inclusive space, where the whole of you is welcome. We limit the maximum number of participants and aim to provide a minimum of 1 to 5 facilitator/support to breather ratio.
Integrity. We are committed to the highest level of service, professionalism and ethics in everything we do. We practice what we “preach”, seek to embody our teachings and constantly uplift our knowledge and skills, and take people only as far as we’ve gone ourselves. We do not provide medical advice or guarantees of alleviation of any physical, mental or emotional symptoms.
Agency. We believe no one is “broken” and needs to be “fixed”, and that healing always comes from within. We believe in the wisdom of people’s body, mind and spirit, as well as their wounding. We provide education and guidance for people so they can develop and deepen their understanding, capacity and agency to guide their own healing process.
Gentle sessions are designed for breathwork beginners, people with currently dysregulated nervous systems, or those who would like to have a safe re-introduction to deep breathwork after a challenging prior experience(s). We provide more education, use lighter music and gentler supportive bodywork facilitations, and focus on developing and strengthening the nervous system capacity and safety resourcing. Capped at 15 people per session.
Advanced sessions are designed to go all-in and are better suited for experienced breathers and people with good nervous system capacity and safety resourcing. We use juicier music (sometimes including live instruments), more hands-on bodywork facilitations, breathe for longer and more actively guide people into and through the deeper end. We focus less on education, and generally keep it shorter and focused on more advanced topics. Capped at 10 people per session.

Just about anyone (subject to contraindications listed below), as long as you believe you can impact your own well-being. We have worked with all sorts of backgrounds, stories and physical/emotional profiles.
Contraindications:

Neurological issues (including epilepsy or history of seizures);

Current severe mental health issues (e.g. psychotic episodes, schizophrenia or recent mental health hospitalisations) or spiritual emergencies;
Some current or recent surgeries or physical injuries (particularly those affecting the abdomen, chest or throat); and
Pregnancy
Benefits?
When we breathe in certain ways, we can allow the unconscious material and unresolved, suppressed or “stuck” energy (particularly related to trauma) to bubble into our awareness and into our bodies. When we know how to approach this and our nervous system has enough capacity to deal with it, this material and energy can be “processed”, “reprogrammed” and resolved, allowing us to get on with our lives.
And it doesn’t have to be all about trauma processing. Breath has its own intelligence and can guide us into the deeper levels of joy, creativity, insight, and connection with our purpose and the people around us. Learning to understand and interact with your breath has been shown to tremendously impact the quality of life.

Jo Phee Biography
Jo Phee is the creator of AcuYin, MyoYin, Meridian Nidra and the world’s first 1000-hour Diploma in Yin Yoga.
Known as a teacher’s teacher, Jo is a senior Yin Yoga & Anatomy Trainer well-known in the international yin yoga community for her specialties in Chinese Medicine, Bone Morphology, Functional Anatomy and Fascia Science. The first to introduce cupping, guasha, acupressure and myofascial release into yin yoga teacher training programs worldwide, Jo is also the pioneer yin yoga teacher to create “Upper Body Yin Yoga” to the mass public in 2006.
Widely dubbed as the “Queen of Props & Sequencing”, Jo has created hundreds of yin yoga variations and sequences in the past two decades through the ingenious use of props. These variations are showcased in her Book of Yin and have since been widely practised by the worldwide yin community.
Starting her yoga journey since 2000, Jo is the first-generation yin yoga teachers trained by Yin Yoga creators Paul and Suzee Grilley. Serving as their Senior Lead Assistant since 2009, she has spent thousands of hours in apprenticeship with them over the past two decades. She was personally mentored by them to teach their entire yin yoga and anatomy training curriculum. Jo has taught more than 20,000 public yoga classes since 2003 and conducted over 100 yin yoga teacher trainings worldwide. She teaches in 20 countries all over Asia Pacific, Middle East, Europe and USA. Thousands of yin teachers and trainers around the world have graduated from her Yinspiration teacher training programs.
Brought up solely with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) from childhood by her Chinese Taoist parents, all of Jo’s initial induction into TCM was based on experiential knowledge passed down from generations in her Chinese family. She learnt Guasha and Cupping treatments from her grandparents and Chinese herbal medicine from her mother. To add theoretical knowledge to her practical experience, Jo went on to study at the Singapore College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Jo is a certified TCM Tuina Massage Therapist.
Jo holds a 3-year Diploma in Yoga (3000+hrs) from the Satyananda Yoga Academy. She has taken rigorous examination in the ashram to teach the original Yoga Nidra practice developed by Swami Satyananda of the Bihar School of Yoga. Her formal education in this practice coupled with her vast knowledge of the Chinese Meridian system inspired her to develop a new systematic practice - Meridian Nidra.
In 2012, in cooperation with the Vice Principal of the Singapore College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Jo developed the world’s first comprehensive Chinese Medicine module to be taught in a yin yoga teacher training program. This module is closely modelled after the curriculum taught to Chinese Medicine Doctors in TCM universities in China. Since, this module has been the “gold standard” for many Chinese Medicine yin trainings around the world. In 2025, Jo will lead the much-anticipated TCM collaboration with Shanghai University of TCM for all Yinspiration graduates.
Driven by a profound interest in functional anatomy and fascia science, Jo has attended cadaver dissection labs in the United States and Europe since 2013. She has 1200 hours of dissection lab experience and has studied up to 100 cadaver specimens to-date. She has performed cadaver dissections at Stanford University, University of Padova Italy, McGill University Canada, Rutgers University Newark, University of Dundee Scotland, Marquette University Wisconsin and the Institute of Anatomical Research Colorado.
Jo has completed Fascia Research Summer School at Ulm University Germany and Leipzig University Institute of Anatomy. She is a founding member of the Fascia Research Society and a team member of the Fascial Net Plastination Project. From 2018 - 2022, she was involved with the team to create the world’s first 3D Plastinated Human Fascial Exhibits at the world-famous Body Worlds Plastinarium in Guben, Germany. Jo was the Chair Host for the Biotensegrity Symposium Canada 2019, and a presenter at the Pink Fascia Conference 2021. Jo continues to work regularly with the fascia research community to stage trainings for Yinspiration graduates, as well as leading her own cadaver dissection lab.
Jo holds certification in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) foundational training from Brown University and also from the Polyvagal Institute with Dr Stephen Porges. She is currently working on her “Book of Yin”, a publication that showcases hundreds of yin yoga variations, a reflection of her 20 years of teaching yoga.

Feel It All, 3-Day Yoga Workshop with Meghan Currie
FEEL IT ALL
3-Day Yoga Workshop with Meghan Currie
May 17-19, 2024
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Feel It All │Vision
One of the most amazing opportunities in this life is to feel. Our feelings can be our guides, our teachers, and powerful catalysts for learning, action and change.
There's a higher purpose and intelligence woven through the mosaic of our experiences. It’s a dance for each of us to learn in our own unique way; the dance of navigating how to empower ourselves, and each other, to fully inhabit our body-mind in the present moment. This dance can be transformative, personally and collectively.
Allowing what’s arising and expressing to be felt, builds a bridge of trust with oneself and life. It cultivates a powerful strength and inner knowing that whatever is going on, you can handle it. Not only handle it, but see the gift, knowing that there's something bigger behind it, a purpose that ultimately generates growth, expansion and inspired action.
This weekend immersion is an opportunity to play, explore, connect and feel. Not a time out, but a time IN. To go deep together through movement, story, stillness and breath.
Although the classes are separate, they are designed as one single tapestry, woven together to take you on a journey through the layers of yourself. Through unique sequencing and breakdowns of posture, breath, and stillness, we will explore the flavors of what it means to feel it all.
Join me for a deep journey of re-engaging intimately through the miracle of the body.
Each class will take you layer by layer into the vast richness of your body in a comprehensive way, weaving in movement, metaphor and philosophy.
“Being human is an imperfect journey, and each moment is a tiny thread, mystically woven in the tapestry of our lives.”
- Meghan Currie

Feel It All │Class Details
Take it as it Comes
“There would be no need for love if perfection were possible. Love arises from our imperfection, from our being different and always in need of the forgiveness, encouragement and that missing half of ourselves that we are searching for, as the Greek myth tells us, in order to complete ourselves.”
-Eugene Kennedy
Life teaches that everything is inherently imperfect and fleeting. If we can discover the beauty in irregularity and imperfection and let go of perfectionism we can learn to accept things as they come, appreciating beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete" in nature.
To embrace the flaws of things, ourselves, and others: as imperfections make us beautiful, and our scars are the poetry that most lend us wisdom, strength and grace.
“Imperfection is relatable.”
-Lauren Conrad
Deconstruction of advanced Backbends & Twists
Somatic presencing
Progressive creative sequencing
Fluidify - Be Like Water
“Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way around or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves. Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.”
-Bruce Lee
Embracing the philosophy of water reminds us that adaptability is key to navigating life’s challenges. Water's flexibility is its strength. It can take on various states – liquid, solid, or gas –depending on its environment. In our lives, flexibility and openness to change can be equally powerful.
Sthira Sukham Asanam
Deconstructed Arm Balances
Fluid movement-Flowing into and out of postures
“To have faith is to trust yourself to the water. When you swim you don't grab hold of the water, because if you do you will sink and drown. Instead you relax, and float.”
-Alan Watts
Golden Joinery
“Our scars are what make us unique. Nothing broken is ever lost.”
- Adrienne Brodeur
Being human is an imperfect journey that’s not always comfortable, but it’s the imperfection and discomfort that creates the most beauty and wisdom, and can be the spark that generates inspiration and action in unexpected directions.
Some things are even more beautiful for having been broken. In life, love and relationships, it's the challenges that make us stronger and allow us to rebuild and transform. We realize our full potential, what we are made of, by touching our thresholds and our life experiences leave mystical little imprints, tiny seeds, that create beautiful blossoms over time.
In this workshop we will break things apart and join them back together with gold to rediscover the strength and beauty that is born out of imperfection.
Inversions
Breaking things apart and Joining key actions and elements
“Our lives do not go backward nor tarries with yesterday- for every wrinkled line is a road map of this journey- and every scar, a solemn decoration. It is perception that writes timeless poetry upon flesh and mind with quill dipped in golden ink…creating art despite the breaking- for that is when true beauty emerges.”
- Roxy St. Clair
Space to Feel - Soma
“Within yourself is a stillness, a sanctuary to which you can retreat at any time and be yourself.”
— Hermann Hess
When we slow down and become quiet, yielding, and still, there is a dynamic inner universe we can discover. One that sometimes can get overpowered by the noise of our daily lives.
This class is designed to guide you inward to discover the subtle expressions of feeling. We will explore a recipe of deep hips openers and forward folds, yin & restorative poses to integrate and synthesize aspects from the previous classes, and unfold new insights.
Your nervous system will slip into sweet deep restoration, inner layers will soften, dissolve, melt and thaw, and you will find your calm as you unwind on the deepest level.
Deep Hips & Forwards Folds
Yin elements
Guided Meditation
Breath work

“Even in stillness, there is movement. Sometimes it takes time for the molecules of change to shift form. Even when it feels like nothing is happening, transformation is taking place.”

ABOUT MEGHAN CURRIE
Meghan Currie is a well-known yoga instructor with 20 years of experience in practicing yoga and 10 years of experience in teaching around the world. Her classes focus on breath-based movement techniques to help connect the mind and body. She also incorporates creativity and playfulness into her classes to encourage self-expression.
Meghan’s yoga style is an unexpected blend of strong and playful. Her movement is intuitive, dance-like, slow fluid style that uses breath awareness to deepen one's connections somatically. Embodying curiosity, complexity, and whimsy to inject lighthearted deliciousness into sequences that are oftentimes quite physically challenging. The emphasis on breath creates a depth of bodily experiencing and a fluid meditative state that helps focus and still the mind while opening, aligning and toning the body.
Like any recipe, she believes there must be just the right amount of all the ingredients to produce the most epic flavor. When she teaches, she mixes herself with all other unpredictable and delicious ingredients to co-create with the universe and be a part of something grand. In her practice, awareness is consciously anchored in somatic experiencing moment to moment as this enables everything to be felt fully and processed as it comes up. The outcome is a growth, not only in physical strength, but also emotionally and mentally. The intention above all is an embracing of all the diverse aspects of oneself. Meghan regularly tours around the globe teaching yoga workshops, retreats and festivals. She believes that every student is also everyone's teacher.
